Welcome to CartoVisions

The CartoVisions team at Texas State University is led by Dr. Sven Fuhrmann and focuses on the development, design and evaluation of modern and traditional geovisualization methods and techniques. The group investigates the broad scope of cartographic media and makes essential contributions to fundamental and applied GIScience research. CartoVision members have received several national and international research awards and contribute to the geovisualization road map for the 21st century. Join the team as graduate student (M.S or PhD) and move the research field in geovisualization forward!

Selected Projects

  • 3D Geovisualization: Hologram-based wayfinding in time critical situations
  • Spatial Cognition: Fear of crime on a university campus
  • Art and Cartography: Mapping with everyday objects
