Dead Birds

Post Marshalls, Gardner wants his own project.
In '61, he leads the Harvard/Peabody expedition to the Dani, in what is now Irian Jaya.  It's radical because it is a relatively large group of people (including Heider, Matthiessen, and Rockefeller among others) and because the Dani, while not "undiscovered"  people are still living very traditional lives.  The resulting film was only one of a series of reports that came out of this expedition.
