1998 – present, Team Investigator, CDC Cooperative Agreement No. U50/CCU614390, the State Epidemiology and Laboratory Surveillance and Response Program grant to DSHS. Grant responsible for (1) reporting and surveillance training to local and regional health departments; (2) conduct surveillance, primarily for foodborne pathogens, in counties without health departments; (3) enhanced the laboratories capacity to perform pulsed field gel electrophoresis on Salmonella isolates; and (4) enhance the laboratories ability to analyze rabies by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). DSHS was also awarded funds to enhance influenza surveillance and purchase computer supplies and equipment to support DPDx, a Website being piloted by CDC to provide reference training and diagnostic information about parasitic diseases. Amount: $~168,000.
