Beginners - June 11-14, 2008

The Health, Physical Education, And Recreation Department at Texas State University announces the Beginners Student Athletic Trainers Camp. The camp will be held June 11-14, 2008 on the Texas State University campus in San Marcos, Texas. It will consist of 3 1/2 days of intense instruction and practical experience in the procedures needed by public school student athletic trainers.

Instruction will include: prevention, recognition and care of athletic injuries taught by a faculty of Licensed and Certified Athletic Trainers. Many hours will be devoted to the actual practice of bandaging, wrapping, and taping techniques needed by students in order to help their schools in the training room next fall.

No previous experience is necessary for students to attend. Any boy or girl in junior high or senior high who has an interest in athletic training may attend.

There is a limited enrollment for each workshop to assure that the students receive the maximum instruction possible. Please register early.

A fee of $325.00 per student is the only charge. This includes tuition, meals, and lodging. The Texas State University cafeteria and dormitories will be used. All supplies and an instructional textbook will be provided by the camp. Students attending will receive a T-Shirt.

The Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Department at Texas State University offers an Advanced Student Athletic Trainers Camp. It will be held June 11-14, 2008 on the Texas State University campus in San Marcos, Texas. The camp will consist of 3 1/2 days of advanced instruction and practical experience in the care and prevention of athletic injuries.

The instruction will include an in depth study of the prevention, recognition and care of athletic injuries as they might occur in high school athletes. The faculty will be comprised of Licensed and Certified Athletic Trainers. Special emphasis will be placed upon hands on evaluation of injuries and advanced techniques of taping and bandaging injuries.

For the Advanced Camp the staff requests that all students have at least one year of student training experience and/or have attended a workshop or clinic on athletic injuries. Any applicant with the above prerequisite may attend.
