Why is Physics Needed in the K-12 Curriculum?

 

Is Physics Needed in the K-12 Curriculum?

 

NO – College Professor – I can’t tell if a student has had high school physics – NO

 

   NO – Physics First (9th Grade) won’t leave any students for me at the 12th Grade –NO

 

      NO – Ninth graders don’t have the math skills to do “real physcs” – NO

 

         NO – Many teaching physical science in junior high come from biology – NO

           

            NO – My students will not be tested on Physics, can’t spare the time - NO

 

               NO – I barely have time to do reading and arithmetic much less science – NO

           

            YES – Some national group created standards, our state has some as well- MAYBE?

 

         YES – I’ve been in an inquiry physics class and know that we can ALL learn - YES

 

      YES – I may be from biology but all kids can learn physics or physical science - YES

 

   YES – I will be able to teach at 9th grade and have a second chance at 11th or 12th - YES

 

YES – My department has assumed responsibilities for K-12 Teacher Preparation – YES
