What's New?

May 8th 2006

Ok, never posted what I dod on April 13th either. Oh well. I did update the list of project logos, now on the right, and have in place place holders for pages for the new project pages when I get around to making them.

April 13th 2006

I started the December 15th updates and never finished. I will try to finish them and other new stuff now. Details on updates:

To do:

Coming soon....er or later, all of that up there!

P.S. Whatever I said on the December 15th 2005 update; forget it. I ment to do that stuff, did some of it, and never finished the rest. I should really wait till I'm done to write these things, but, what the hell.

P.P.S. Oh, and Elliot, this is not a damn blog.

Lots of news people, so settle in. First, there is a new Project that I am a member of and have a TEAM: Brian for. uFluids. Actually, it is not called 'u' Fluids, it is called 'mu' Fluids, as in the greek letter Mu which looks like a 'u', but with a dangly down bit. Something like this: Anyway, most people are not going through the trouble of getting the mu right, so, just to be lazy and a follower with no mind of my own, from now on, I'll simply refer to the project as uFluids. Along with this new project and TEAM: Brian goes a new graphic at the top of the page. I'll squeeze it in somewhere. A new 'What is' page. An addition to the How to join page. And at some point I should really go through and update the rest of the pages so they make more sense, but I most likely will not be doing that now. I'm only doing these updates because I am an insomniac and I have to wake up for work in, oh, about 5 hours and 45 minutes, give or take, so, of course, I'm writing HTML code. Oh well, it is better than stressing over a car or, like for the past few weeks, over finals. Yep, I'm almost 31 and I'm still working toward my first bachelor's. The moral of the story, kiddies, is to never give up, no matter how sad and ridiculous it gets. Or is it don't change majors three or four times. Yeah, that's it. On your third major, stick with it or one of the previous ones that you already have classes done for. Ok, so you hate it and don't want to do it for the rest of your life. You don't have to. All you have to do is get the degree and you can start on a new degree and the state will keep paying for it. When you take eight years or so to earn a degree and have 160+ credit hours under your belt, it gets harder and harder to get the state to give you money. Anyway, uFluids.

Second update. It seems that Xtrem Lab is either dead or in real trouble. They reported hard drive trouble back in October and I have not been able to contact the project or get on their web site for months now. So, I updated their graphic with some bright green question marks.

Third update. There is yet another project out there. Actually, there are about half a dozen projects out there that I am not a member of, that I know of. Anyway, most of those other projects are not taking new members. One of them, I forget the name, is actually a commercial venture. Sorry, I'm not donating my time to make someone else money. Anyway, there is a project from Hungary called SZTAKI Desktop Grid. Yes, yet another grid. If you don't know about my dislike of grids, I have a rant, somewhere on this site, about the proliferation of grids. Actually, I guess I don't really hate grids, I simply dislike the number of grid projects out there as opposed to alien seeking, outer space type projects. Suddenly, donating idle CPU cycles is becoming almost too geeky for me. Too much math, not enough outer space. If that makes any sense. Anyway, they have actually been around for a long time, or the better part of a year, but, until recently, the site was all Hungarian. Now, I'm not xenophobic, I just like to know for what I am donating my idle CPU cycles and if I can't read it off your own site, I just won't trust it. Well, now I can read what they are doing. It involves binary numbers and grids, so, sorry, but I'm not really excited, but, well, what the hell. I just joined the project now, so I will put up new info on them soon, like in a month or four. Or whenever I feel like it. It'll happen.

Fourth update. I have no idea how this happened people, and by people, I mean me because I can't imagine that anyone else in the world will be reading this, in any case, I have no idea how this happened, but someone joined my team on Seti@Home! That's right. On Seti@Home, TEAM: Brian has two members! Ok, rest of the world, that's is. You've all just missed out. Before, the entire world was ignoring me. Now, one person was an individual. He joined. Now, anyone else who joins any of my teams is just a follower. Your not original. No, your just doing what someone else already did. Oh, and someone in the UK has created a Seti@Home team called Team Brian. Ok people, just to clarify, the TEAM: part of TEAM: Brian is because Brian is the name of a team. Ok, so it is TEAM:, as in what is is, and Brian, as in the name of the team. This new team would technically be known as TEAM: Team Brian, and that just doesn't make any sense. That's like saying you know your PIN number. PIN means 'Personal Identification Number,' so, PIN number means Personal Identification Number number; a number identifying your PIN. Anyway, the team, Team Brian has no members or web site, so oh well. There are only about 30 or so teams with Brian in the name on SETI@Home, and most of them have better names that that too, so, whatever. In particular, I like Brian's Computers, Brian's Group, and The Brian Trust. The Trust, as I call them, has no active members, but that's ok, because they have a really cool name. Me? Well, I go for plain and descriptive, just my name, Brian. I let my stats speak for themselves, and they say, hey, I don't have a lot of spare computing power. Anyway, let's welcome our new team member, Brian, to TEAM: Brian. Welcome Brian, I like your style in choice of names. Plain, simple, real. Keep it real. Just your real name. Brian. Not DrAgOnSlAyEr76213 or 2h0t4U69. No. Just the name your momma gave ya.

Later that day....
Ok, I did actually finish all the updates I wanted to do and I finished them all today. That's it for a while. Oh, what did I do? Umm.......added new project graphics and links so that not all of the projects that I am a member of are included and I created about pages for all of the new ones and maybe a few odd changes to pages here and there.

Months ago, I got my car back! Of course, the hood and bumper are not painted, but oh well, I'm driving. In that amount of time, my BOINC project membership has almost doubled. I have started to rework the site with graphics and pages for the new projects, but I am doing this ever so slowly. I decided to put up a partial update. Not all the links are there yet, but soon will be. And by soon, I mean whenever I get around to it. I did, however, update the How To Join TEAM:Brian link on the odd chance that someone will want to join. I have no idea why they would, but just in case. Anyway, if I'm going to think that no one is going to join, then I'm not going to make it a self fulfilling prophecy. I'm going to make damn sure that the info. is out there. If your not going to join my team, it's not going to be my fault. Well, maybe it is my fault, but not because you don't have the info. on how to join.

I managed to find a better graphic for Einstein@Home. There is a site, Einsteinathome.org which seems to be the main, non BOINC page, for the Einstein@Home project. They actually had a banner and graphics for the project. The main BOINC page for Einstein@home, where you create an account and check stats and stuff, doesn't really have graphics for the project. It is 3:36 am, so I'm not sure if any of this is coherent, however, I can't sleep, I found a graphic, its up. I had bloody well be the only person losing sleep over this. Ok, so I'm losing sleep over other stuff, not web site graphics, but, well, I'm up, so whatever.

Update to the Pirates@Home about page and the Pirates@Home graphic.

June 19th 2005
Ok, I am bored again. I was going to go see Batman Begins tonight, except that I still have no car, so I am waiting to go with Jason, this guy I live with. No, I'm not gay, I'm poor, so I need help with the rent and bills and stuff. I saw Batman Begins last night with the other guy I live with Abby, yeah, three guys, one apartment, you can just imagine, anyway, it was good, Batman Begins, and now Jason wants to see it, and I will see it again if it means getting out of this damn apartment for a few hours, also, it was good, so I don't really mind seeing it again, so, because he wants to see it and because he is driving, we are waiting a few hours, so, yeah, I'm bored again. Thus, the new update! I went though all the pages and added a lot of links where they really didn't need to be. Anyway, we should be leaving within the hour, so that worked out well.

This entire site is new. Hopefully, I will put it online today. If I don't, then I will not change this, because you will never know the difference.

I do plan to add more links. I was thinking of making almost everything a link. Like, Everywhere I have TEAM: Brian, there should be a link to that main page. Every time I have anything, there should be a link to something telling you what it is. Hell, I might make every word a link to the dictionary meaning to that word. I don't know. Just depends on how bored I am.
