What is Crash Collection?
Ok, this is really simple and, I think, a very good idea. Every time Windows or a program running in Widows crashes, Windows creates a file called a Minidump. These files have info about the state of the RAM when the crash occurred. They are looking at these files to try to figure out Windows crashes. Of course, I can tell you why Windows crashes. Two words: Bill Gates. Oh, wait, two more words: Crappy programming. Or, how about, Money over results. Or, buy my crappy product because I have a Monopoly on the market? Anyway, we are, for the most part, stuck with Windows, so we might as well try to figure out what, if anything, can be done to make it not quite so crappy.
Oh, and it seems to be down a lot. I did attach to it once. Downloaded the project file. And a few months later had a slight problem and had to reinstall BOINC from scratch and reattach to all of the projects. I have not been able to contact the project for three days now. I may shoot them an e-mail and ask what's up. Anyway, this project uses no system resources and will not take time from your other projects, so, if I were you, I'd join it and just hope you can attach.
