In addition to working as a college administrator and professor, she has served as a director, producer, theatre historian, critic, and author of numerous articles on the theatre and the arts. Her most recent directing projects are Frederick Douglass: Reflections on a Struggle for Freedom (2005) and For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf (2004)—both produced at Texas State. Her publications include editing and introducing the anthology entitled Myth, Magic, and Farce: Four Multicultural Plays by Sterling Houston (2005) and organizing, co-editing, and the writing the introduction and a chapter for the Introduction to the Fine Arts text used for several years in classes at Incarnate Word University. She has managed many significant arts initiatives including the San Antonio Symphony Residency and the Music Advancement Program at St. Philip's College. In 2000, she received the National Institute for staff Organizational Development Award for Leadership Excellence (sponsored by UT Austin). She has been listed in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the Southwest In 1997, she was inducted into the San Antonio Women's Celebration and Hall of Fame. Her contributions to numerous boards include the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE), the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, Arts! San Antonio, San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame, the San Antonio Chapter of 100 Black Women, Texas Educational Theatre Association, and the Southwest Theatre Association. Ric Hubbard, Webmaster A Communications Design student at Texas State, joins our staff to maintain the web site and design publications. He is a sophomore at Texas State, but as a non-traditional student he comes with a number of years of experience, including print work and web site design experience.
